Welcome to our new website! We’re proud to present the latest Urge website complete with updated portfolios, a bit about our sister shops and history, as well as a new Art Gallery dedicated to displaying artwork other than tattoos by our amazing staff.

We hope you enjoy cruising through the pages and look forward to hearing about your next tattoo even more!

A big thank you out to Victoria’s own iDreamDigital for the new website!

The truth is that tattoo artists and our industry in general do not have the gleaming reputation for self-preservation and healthy-lifestyle that, say, the banking industry might enjoy. From motorcycles to scuba diving, to all manner of other hi-jinx, we’ve earned a label that portrays us as injury-prone goof-balls.

It’s a reputation that makes adequate 3rd party healthcare a difficult undertaking to say the least.

Well, it was a long and complex road filled with lengthy research and a number of insurance companies that basically just laughed and hung up the phone but Urge Tattoos is proud to announce that we now offer premium health benefit coverage to all of our employees!

Urge was proud to have been an instrumental part of the rules and regulations currently in place for Tattoo Studios in Victoria and around British Columbia. We worked with the government to define many of the rules that now protect the public from dangerous operators. From sterilization practices to pathogen training, Urge Tattoos prides itself on taking care of our client’s health and now we can say the very same about the health of our staff!

The 5th Annual Urge Poppy Tattoo Drive benefiting the Canadian Legion was a great success! 2015 was one of our most successful drives. Urge, with on-site help of Goldstream Tattoo, raised $3500 while the other two shops who participated in the effort (The Burly Beard Tattoo and Incendiary Tattoos) brought in $3800 and $550 bucks respectively.

We’re super proud to have started a tradition of giving back to our vets six years ago, and we are particularly stoked to have have had help from these great artists and people. The Legion uses income generated from Poppy sales to help past and present service men & women as well as their families. All proceeds will be donated to the Royal Canadian Legion by these shops.

We’re pretty jazzed about the season our favorite Football team had this year! For another season, Urge was proud to sponsor the Victoria Xtreme – the all-woman football squad that kicks ass across the region — and they certainly made the most of our contribution.

“We couldn’t have gone to the Duncan Sunbowl Tournament without you, and we really appreciate your sponsorship. Our league fees are expensive, and because of your help, we can also buy new gear (pop flags, kicking tee, footballs) for our next season.”; team rep Alyssa tell us.

Here are a few photos of these tough-as-nails ladies, who (if we’re being honest) would probably kick our collective asses at a whole lot more than football if we gave them a reason/chance.

Check them out with their awesome trophy below! Congratulations Xtreme!

urge-benefit-poster (2)Urge Tattoos is excited to announce that, in partnership with the Wounded Warriors Foundation, we will be holding a tattoo fund-raiser for injured Canadian soldiers in early February.

Sunday, February 8th, Urge tattoos will be donating our time, art, and materials to give participants and patrons armed forces themed tattoos. We will have several designs to choose from including flags, maple leafs, and other imagery associated with our Canadian Armed Forces. Tattoos will be by donation with a minimum suggested donation of $60.

Every year a team of dedicated runners relays the length of Vancouver Island for six consecutive days. Starting Sunday, 15 Feb 2015 and finishing Friday, 20 Feb 2015, the journey will begin in Port Hardy and end in Victoria, covering an excess of 600 km. Participants will be visiting Urge on Sunday, February 8th, during this event so come out and thank them for their commitment to our wounded service men and women.

Hotdogs, coffee and other concession will be provided by Petersen’s Catering.

We would like to thank everyone who voted Urge Studios the Best Tattoo Shop in Victoria for the 5th consecutive year! We’re really honored to be held in high esteem by the great people of our beautiful region. We’d like to send an extra special thanks out to our customers without whom we couldn’t practice our craft, so here’s to each and every one of you all as well!

Victoria, British Columbia, is stocked full of great artists and talent so being recognized as Victoria’s favorite tattoo and piercing shop for five years in a row is about as good a gift as the capital region could have given us. Urge is committed to giving back to our awesome community. From our annual Remembrance Day tattoo drive to the honor of donating to the Wounded Warrior Run, Urge Tattoos is a proud supporter of our local military and their families. Through activities like our End of the Season Motorcycle Ink & Ride to Wing Nights, and other fun events, we’re also dedicated to having a great time with all the awesome people who come through our doors.

The Urge Crew will continue to turn in rad tattoos in our friendly and clean environment for many years to come so don’t be strangers and we hope to see you soon!

We’re big supporters of Victoria’s veterans, and those living elsewhere, so when approached by the Wounded Warrior organization for a donation we jumped at the chance!

Sparky painted the 5-foot canvas that this poster has been designed over. The painting will be auctioned off at the end of the event to help raise additional funds to support our injured vets in any and all ways that they need. Find out more about this amazing fundraiser at www.woundedwarriorbc.com including how you can participate along side the runners in Victoria, upisland, or to make a cash donation of your own.

On October 6th 2013 the first Urge Ink & Ride in support of fallen riders throughout Vancouver Island took place. We meandered around the scenic route and through the streets of Victoria eventually ending at the shop for motorcycle tattoos, hot dogs and donations.

It looks like donations from the Urge Ink & Ride are going to a great and worthy cause. Thanks again to everyone who came out for the ride and made a donation!

We rode through Victoria BC on a mission of support.

Tattoos mean many things to many people but for one group of friends it was a way to show solidarity with one of their own who was fighting brain cancer. Check out this CTV News clip (starting at the 6:18 mark) to learn more about this group of awesome women, and you might just notice a familiar tattoo shop in the piece where they had the work done. Damn, it must be dusty in here… there’s something in my eye.
